About West Winds Publications

West Wind Publications is an independent book publisher with a fresh academic approach to online publishing. We work with Australian and overseas writers and welcome submissions from seasoned and unseasoned authors. Since forming in 2009, we have published books of relevance to public health. In the future, we will publish a wide range of quality academic works for the Australian and international markets.

West Wind Publications Inc is a not-for-profit association incorporated in Western Australia specialising in publishing books, eBooks and software of an academic, educational or eLearning nature.

We only publish on merit and all publications go through a review process before they are accepted.

Some of West Wind's publications are provided with open access and free of charge as a service to developing nation communities who would not otherwise have access to this information.

Mode of Operation

WWP aims to publish high quality academic works, eBooks and software. All WWP publications are offered to buyers through this website or others. Occasionally, publications will be made available at no charge as a service to developing nations. A cost recovery fee is charged for all other publications.

First time authors are encouraged to submit their work. Health professionals, scientists, academics, researchers and students are encouraged to consider aspects of their work, projects and theses for publication as eBooks or eMonographs. All accepted manuscripts are published online in full with colour images and no word limits.

Peer-Review and Quality Control

All materials submitted for publication are subjected to a peer-review process following which revisions are usually required before publication. WWP is not a vanity publisher since it has quality controls and review processes in place to ensure the suitability of publications.

Fees

Academic publishing is not a profitable exercise due to the low demand for most publications. Getting published by commercial publishers is thus a very difficult, protracted and often excruciating affair. Due to this, self-publishing is a commonly chosen and widely acceptable option for academic works. WWP is a non-profit association and only publishes online to minimise costs. All authors are charged a publication fee to cover costs which varies according to the type of publication, length, extent of editing required, and other variables. This fee is similar in size to fees charged by academic journals for publication of articles.
